Back to the Slave and Grind πŸ™‚

We started off with a cross country meet on Saturday morning in Plainfield. Cade has been conditioning over the summer and developed some serious blisters and peeling on his feet. He had his annual physical a couple weeks ago and the doctor said to rest his feet as much as he could and add some cushion when he runs. He took a few days off and we've been wrapping his feet so coach let him run. He didn't do as well as he wanted and was frustrated with his time, but he made it through, which is way better than his dad or I could have done. #ProudMom

After the meet, Ryan dropped Olivia off for princess day at The Melting Pot. I had a tiara that I got for my 40th birthday so I put that on Olivia when we picked her up and she said it made her a real princess. She was super excited to ride in what she called "the fast car" and I'm not even gonna lie; I was super excited about that fast car, too! LOL Β When we got to the restaurant, it was less than 10 minutes before Cinderella came over to talk to Olivia. She told her she loved her tiara, they talked about kindness and school, and then she taught her the princess pose. Olivia had a blast cooking and dipping everything into all the sauces and of course, the adults enjoyed the food as well. πŸ˜‰

I was exhausted by the evening so we watched some TV and I dozed in and out until bedtime. I think the sun just zapped me! πŸ™‚ Β Sunday we recouped and caught up on laundry and stuff around the house. I was hoping to hear back from Holland on Monday morning to start working, but the insurance company hadn't approved on their side yet. So Rocki and I went shopping and out for lunch instead. I finally got a snake grass plant for the front room and then we went to the Goodwill Outlet and bought items by the pound. I've never heard something so crazy! Regardless, we found some good deals in there and for super cheap.

I got the call on Tuesday mid-day that I could start working remotely and all was approved. I'll work 30 hours a week (Holland pays) and then the insurance company subsidizes the other 10 hours so I'm back to full pay! 😁  I have been super blessed to have the insurance that I do. I hear horror stories in my support group about insurance denials and companies that won't let their employees off work for appointments. I complain about Holland and the crazy union stuff sometimes, but I miss all my people. And of course, they're in the middle of an audit so I'll be spending some time trying to get anything they find corrected over the next few weeks and then finishing up when I get back in office. If all goes well, then I'll be back on September 14th.

I went yesterday morning for a mammogram and talk about scanxiety (scan anxiety)! I never knew this was thing until one of my good friends, Heidi, had to go through it with her daughter. Addison has DIPG, a rare form of brain cancer, and they do A LOT of imaging so she's had scanxiety for the last four years. It's hard not to worry even though we know it's not helpful and doesn't change anything. We're just waiting for that other shoe to drop. I couldn't sleep and tossed and turned all night. My surgeon did a mammogram of the left breast prior to surgery and said she typically does a full one six months after radiation is completed, which would be March 2023. Since I haven't had a mammogram of both since August 2021 when all this started and the breast MRI was January 2022, that would put me out 14 months between imaging. She saw the look on my face and said no worries, we'll get one scheduled now. Much appreciated doc! 😁

The radiologist read it and told me there was nothing new other than the expected post-surgical changes. She is recommending that I alternate between mammograms and breast MRIs due to the "rarity of breast cancer before 50" (boo!), not being BRCA positive (yay!), and the aggressive rate of growth between the two annual mammograms (double boo!). I'll feel better doing that anyway so I can keep tabs on anything crazy that pops up. Once I hit the three-year mark, the chances will decrease drastically, but until then, I'm probably going to be a bundle of nerves!

TODAY'S SILVER LINING: I'm a little tired, my shoulders and upper arms are more sore because of the positioning each day, and I have a sunburnt boob. I'm getting off pretty easy so far! 😁
