The Many Faces of Cancer

So I started losing my hair in small clumps over a week ago. Last Wednesday, I asked Autumn, Staci, and Mom if they would give me a buzz cut last night. Staci had the idea to try all kinds of cuts that I normally wouldn't do and progressively cut it all off. Then I washed my hair on Sunday and when I tried to comb it with a wide pick, I pulled out a good sized pile. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it three more days, but I wanted it to come off in my time, my way. I'm not a control freak AT ALL. :-) I finger combed it into a bun, crossed my fingers, and made it to girl's night!
We started with what I'm calling the "Jennifer Grey". This totally reminds me of her hair in Dirty Dancing and nobody puts baby in the corner...

We moved on to a horrible mullet...

Next was this super messy pixie cut that I fell in love with. I cut my hair short once when I had Christian and I hated it so much that I didn't want to try anything else. I just wanted it to grow back out. I've never gone this short before and I'm thinking I might keep this style for a few when my hair comes back in.

Then a mohawk...

And then pink because why not?!

Then spiky pink hair...

Finally my stack of hair and buzzed head.

My partners in crime...

Let me tell you how cold it REALLY is outside LOL I have some cute hats and bought a couple wigs after work today so I'm ready to take on the world with or without hair, depending on my mood. Jaleasa and Billy brought us a full Italian meal and stayed for dinner tonight and were the first to see my new look. She was just as surprised as me that I went for a lighter shade, but when I tried it on, I liked it right away. Paul (my stylist) said it's like ranch. He showed me several others that he said were the french, strawberry vinaigrette, etc, but said most people opt for the ranch in the end. It was fun to play, but he wasn't wrong. Here were the contenders, available in 30 shades:

I ended up buying two: the short curly at the top of the post and a long straight on with a side swept bang.
I so appreciate all the meal assistance we've had recently. Rhys has always said that since I've cooked from the beginning, that he'll learn to cook and take over that chore when the kids are gone. Since we have all three in the house, he's not started his learning curve yet. I don't know if they'd have a vegetable if we didn't have great family and friends. :-) Linda brought vegetable soup (which we LOVE and I took to work several days!) and Charlene brought a delicious rice casserole, veggies and fruit last weekend. I also suspiciously received a package of Ghiradelli dark chocolate via Amazon with no note...after a conversation about antioxidants with Charlene. Thanks lady! <3
Tomorrow is my next chemo session. I'm super nervous that it'll be a repeat of last time, but hoping since I know how to get back to solid food, that I'll be able to hold something down quicker than last time. I'll update soon. Love you all!
TODAY'S SILVER LINING: Also found out that insurance will most likely reimburse me $500 with the invoice Paul gave me and a script for a prostheses from my oncologist. So my trip today won't even break three digits!
